Summary:
The Production Assembler II role assembles mechanical units, fabricated parts/components and/or electrical/electronic systems to make subassemblies, assemblies or complete units using hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures and miscellaneous equipment. This position also fits, aligns, calibrates and adjusts parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating requirements and repairs units or products that have failed to meet requirements.
Major Position Responsibilities
Operates and maintains stations to assemble, align, and adjust fabricated parts, components, or units according to specifications and follows established manufacturing
procedures
Uses hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units
Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to ensure all components meet tolerances, product specifications, and quality standards
May repair or refit parts or units that fail tests or tolerance levels
Keeps daily assembly production records
Maintains a clean and organized work environment
Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
2-4 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational/Technical Training Degree
Experience using computers (MS Office Software) to locate and enter processing data
Able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Understands the hazardous characteristics and compatibility of propellants and other chemicals used in cartridge assembly; handling pyrotechnic/chemical materials and the required safety requirements
Demonstrates a working knowledge of work instructions (WI) and standard operating documents associated with equipment and tooling
Complies with all safety regulations and reports or corrects hazards
Understands and complies with all quality requirements and meets satisfactory production standards and inspection requirements
Follows verbal and written work directions as assigned by Supervisor and/or Lead personnel
Performs propellant and assembly operations in accordance with written instructions
Ability to work with various hand tools, fixtures, tooling and equipment
Wears and cares for personal protective equipment (PPE) required to perform assigned tasks
Uses precision measuring equipment to obtain process data (micrometers, scales, calipers, etc.)
Other Requirements:
Ability to obtain completion/achievement of torque certification
Able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery
Regular movement throughout GD-OTS fa
