About the Department
The Schwrer Lab is interested in understanding the metabolic programs
that govern regenerative responses in health and become maleficent in
disease, focusing on the role of fibroblasts. The laboratory combines
mouse models and novel culture systems with metabolic flux analysis to
investigate how nutrient availability and utilization dictates
fibroblast identity and function, and how this contributes to cancer,
fibrosis, and inflammation.

metabolic control of cancer-associated fibroblasts in vitro and in
genetically engineered mouse models of cancer. The successful candidate
will have exceptional organization skills and will assist with the daily
operations of the laboratory including animal colony management, cell
and molecular biology experiments, collecting and recording data under
the guidance of the principal investigator.
