What You Can Expect
As our Shift Supervisor, at The Ohio State University, in Columbus, OH, you will be responsible for the safe & efficient operation of all current and future operated utility plants/systems on campus which may include but not limited to natural gas/oil fired boilers, turbines, emergency diesel generators, chillers, air compressors, pumps, electric motors, fans, piping systems, water treatment and any other equipment related to campus utility systems.
Everyday you will supervise Stationary Engineers and Assistant Stationary Engineers on assigned shift, prepare reports and ensure logs and records are properly maintained. You will report to the Operations Engineer.
What You'll Bring
You posses a valid State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer License
You have a minimum 7 years of in steam/power plant operations; including a background in mechanical, electrical and control systems associated with these plants
You will assign job rotations for your crew and work tasks to be completed throughout the shift. Ensure all work is being completed
You will operate utility plant equipment in adherence to operating, environmental and safety procedures to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and customer performance standards; also monitors the plant control systems for safe and efficient operation of boilers, chillers and associated equipment to ensure key performance indicators are met
Supervises and trains employees on shift. Determines training needs for direct reports; will also document and address employee performance issues and issues corrective action as needed
Follows standard operating procedures and updates/develops new procedures as needed
Prepares/submits reports and logs on equipment problems, outages and/or upsets occurring on the shift. Troubleshoots and performs root cause analysis
Interacts with other plant departments (I&C, electrical, maintenance, capital projects) and contractors to maintain safe & reliable plant operations
Carries out other duties as assigned
Additional Details
This role requires attendance at a worksiteon a rotation basis
Must be available to travel domestically up to 5% of the time
Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license as you will drive a company vehicle
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
This position consists of 10% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
Ability to work 12-hour shifts (6AM-6PM or 6PM-6AM), weekends and holidays
Capable of frequently standing, walking, balancing, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, stooping, squatting, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling
Major items include PPE, Job Safety Plans, LOTO, Hot Work Permits & Confined Space Permits
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
Could involve some lifting

Salary Range: $30.00 to $47.26 USD hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
