The Cigna Group Accounting Senior Manager - Insurance NAIC - Statutory Reporting - Hybrid in Denver, Colorado

Role Summary

The Accounting Senior Manager is responsible for the US statutory reporting for four legal entities including The Cigna Group’s largest regulated entities. In addition, lead the Statutory Center of Excellence which includes being responsible for monitoring and ensuring day one readiness across the enterprise for new NAIC guidance and changes to the NAIC blanks.

Major Duties

  • Lead a team of team of 11 experienced professionals (7 employees and 4 offshore shared service partners). Responsible for the optimal utilization of team.

  • Responsible for accurate, timely filing of quarterly and annual NAIC statutory reporting for four regulated entities.

  • Initiate and manage various process improvement projects.

  • Execute matrix management with multiple business areas.

  • Communicate and work directly with senior level management to keep apprised of status and resolution of issues.

  • Monitor newly exposed and adopted Statutory accounting principles and blanks changes. Liaison with Interested Parties and Industry groups to advocate for the company’s positions. Plan for and coordinate implementation of adopted guidance.

  • Consult with business partners and stakeholders to understand and provide technical statutory accounting and reporting guidance in support of new transactions, products, or enterprise projects.

  • Troubleshoot and bring finality to issues affecting financial reporting and controls, and keep apprised of current issues/changes that may affect statutory reporting.

  • Promotion and sharing of best practices across all statutory reporting teams.

  • Maintain a well-designed and effective internal control environment. Perform quarterly and year-end Model Audit Rule (MAR) compliance responsibilities.

  • Manage and develop direct reports: provide opportunities for project work and skill advancement, coach and provide on-going formal and informal feedback, put development plans in place.

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors in the periodic review of the company statutory financial records.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years financial reporting or public accounting or equivalent

  • Staff management experience preferred.

  • Strong financial analysis skills.

  • Insurance Industry experience preferred.

  • NAIC Statutory reporting experience preferred.

  • Ability to successfully work in a matrix environment.

  • Proven communication, facilitation, consulting, and people skills.

  • Proven mentoring and coaching skills with ability to train others.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 115,500 - 192,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
