Job Description:

The L3Harris MPES Philadelphia Production Planning Manager will oversee a team of 8 planning professionals with responsibility for the accurate and timely production planning and support of assembly execution of annual deliverable products valued at $75-$100M. Using the Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP) system, Program Master Schedule, Engineering Bill of Material (BOM), the Manager and team will execute production work order release in support of contracted delivery dates, material allocations, BOM management, lead time management, capacity and load planning, and project and Work Center schedule execution. Products manufactured are in support of Department of Defense, and subject to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Material Management and Accounting System (MMAS) requirements. Products manufactured include electronic and power cabinets/subassemblies in support of United States Navy sea-based programs. Supervision of daily activities of salaried and hourly production planners. Essential Functions include, but not limited to, the following.

  1. Reviews the MRP (Material Requirements Planning) reports daily, validates the output for accuracy and initiates corrective action for discrepant issues.

  2. Interface with Purchasing to resolve due date and shortage issues prior to work order release.

  3. Reviews MRP and Reports Net reports daily for actions. Reports to include the MRP exception message report, Allocation of Excess Inventory report, Open Work Order report, Work Center labor and dispatch report, and Project Shortage report.

  4. Manages the work order process to include revision control, material availability, work order release, start and completion date maintenance, material allocation changes, Work Center labor requirements, material and labor variance analysis, and released BOM’s and routers.

  5. Assist Work Centers in dispatch report management and execution, work order prioritization and schedule management.

  6. Assist in generating production schedules and Work Center capacity load schedules.

  7. Notify leadership when available resources do not support the production plan (MPS) or meeting the contract date is at risk.

  8. Manage and execute project production schedules to meet the Master Schedule and contract delivery dates

  9. Leads, directs and reviews the work of production planners to maintain workflow and productivity and ensure company’s objectives are achieved

  10. Acts as System’s leader and champions moderate improvements to processes, systems and solutions 11. Maintain and report Key Performance Indicators

  11. Maintain master data accuracy (planning related) 13. Review and maintain customer backorder and lead time

  12. Responsible for direct support of the shop floor in achieving committed on-time delivery to customer contract dates.

  13. Evaluate team member skill and ability against standard and advanced tactical responsibilities; establish training and mentoring plans to grow personnel to highest level of production planning execution and capacity.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum six years prior relevant experience or graduate degree with four years prior relevant experience.

  • Comprehensive understanding of ERP Manufacturing Planning Systems primarily MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and MRP-II (Manufacturing Resource Planning). Experience and understanding of requirements in the requisitioning, purchasing, stocking, control and issuance of inventory.

  • Demonstrated experience and achievement in meeting contract delivery dates

  • Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, tactics, and employees within a team

  • Experience with DoD products and delivery commitments.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Organize team work to ensure weekly achievement of delivery commitments are achieved

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Capable of generating moderately complex spreadsheets and reports utilizing: Tableau (or similar), Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word.

  • Serve as team mentor and trainor, ensuring the team is operating at the highest level of planning skill and ability; recognizing areas of growth to acheive
