Description
We are a reputable and growing provider in the trucking and transportation industry seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), AR, AP, and general ledger management. Experience in the trucking or transportation industry is highly preferred but industry-related experience is also acceptable.
Job Description: As a Staff Accountant, your primary responsibility will lie in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of our accounting information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Regular management and maintenance of company accounts, sustaining records, and financial transactions.
Rectify the general ledgers as needed and schedule journal entries.
Contribute to the preparation of financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
Participate in annual audits and support for tactical tax planning.
Streamline and enhance financial processes and systems.
Work with Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) processes.
Uphold company, federal, and state legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
Adaptable to changing work environments and the ability to multi-task.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a staff accountant.
Proficient understanding of GAAP.
Strong knowledge and ability to apply accounting theories, practices, principles, and procedures.
Solid understanding of accounts payable and receivable.
Experience in the trucking or transportation industry is highly preferred.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organization skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
