Job Title: Aeronautical Engineer

Job Description

Seeking a motivated engineer to build the next generation aerostat system. You will work within a dynamic engineering and design team to conceptualize, rapidly prototype, test, and implement innovative aerostat solutions for deployment to our customers. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement aerostat systems and products. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong foundation in engineering principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Utilize software and engineering skills to evaluate and create designs of components and systems, ensuring compliance with engineering principles and regulatory standards.

  • Testing and Evaluation: Perform simulations on prototypes and existing designs to assess performance, identify issues, and implement necessary modifications.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, operations, and quality assurance, to coordinate activities and ensure seamless integration of designs into manufacturing processes.

  • Documentation: Prepare technical reports and documentation outlining design specifications, simulations, and test results.

Essential Skills

  • BS+ in aerospace, aeronautics, or mechanical engineering with a background in aerodynamics and flow.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Expertise in CAD software such as Mathcad.

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models.

  • Ability to apply innovative approaches to designing, integrating, testing, and producing complex engineering sensor systems.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD, simulation, and modeling software.

  • Experience with Dynamic Analysis Tools.

  • Experience with systems engineering and integration.

  • Experience with development and production programs through the install and deployment of assets to a customer.

  • System modeling & simulation and/or system performance analysis.

  • Test engineering experience, preferably in lighter-than-air systems.

  • Proficient with version control and requirements tools.

Work Environment

Company currently has a small space in the Air Dock, with ground station units set up next to offices. This person will have the option to work from home as needed. The role follows a hybrid schedule and involves working with computer programs related to aerodynamics and software packages built for lighter-than-air applications. This is not a customer-facing role, and the first few months will be spent learning all software packages and determining design effects.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $64.00/hr.
