Sandia National Laboratories Information Management Professional (Mid-Career) in Albuquerque, New Mexico

If so, you could be the Information Management (IM) Professional (Limited Term Employee) we are seeking to join Sandia National Laboratories Interconnects and eFAB (7630) and High-rel. Elect. Components (7640)!

As the IM you will apply knowledge of the internal business practices of SEP to manage information flow between Production Realization Teams (PRTs), customers, and management, facilitating business processes and ensuring timely delivery of information and metrics within a Nuclear Weapon (NW) environment.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Survey the current program information and identify corrective actions to adhere to the configuration and information management plans; execute the successful transition of team documents/records from historical tools to the program repositories.

  • Manage and mature team document repositories/tools on both the SRN and SCN.

  • Deliver training and consultation to the team on standard procedures and corporate policies; identify and implement process improvements.

  • Work to archive the historical configuration items.

  • Maintain and manage the various PRT SharePoint sites.

  • Organize and distribute requested information to our partners and customers.

  • Support the team in handling and archiving program information over the next few years.

  • Assure that information is organized and archived to support deployed system(s) for the coming decades.

  • Provide support for program reviews or meetings including tasks such as managing logistics, coordinating materials, recording action items, and distributing materials post meeting(s).


  • Bachelors in Business Administration, Information Management, Communications or relevant discipline plus five (5) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and related experience.

  • Experience with data management.

  • Must have an active DOE Q-level security clearance to start; or equivalent clearance such as SCI or DOD Top Secret.


  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Information Management, Communications or related field.

  • Demonstrable ability to lead and help organize meetings and work successfully in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment.

  • Skills in Microsoft, Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint and Confluence.

  • Ability to manage tools and processes to help engineering teams keep documentation on track.

  • Experience working and leading technical staff to organizational success.

  • Some experience in configuration management best practices as related to information management.

The Communications Center (3600) at Sandia National Laboratories is responsible for all Labs-wide communications and all communications functions within the Labs. Matrixed Communications Services (3640) includes five departments delivering communications support to organizations across the Laboratories. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
