Job Description Summary

The Contract Manager reports directly the Regional Operations Leader, functionally to Global Contracts Manager of Grid Automation (GA). The GA Contracts Manager will has overall responsibility for all project contractual activities.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for all project contractual activities from Hand Over from ITO until all relevant contractual obligations are completed, drafting important contractual correspondences.

  • Contract analysis and preparation of Project Contract Commercial Plan.

  • Identification of Customer/Consortium and other third-party obligations and development and implementation of the Project Contract Commercial Plan, including Project Claim Strategy.

  • Liaise with Project Planning Manager to ensure Contract Programme and appropriate schedules for customer and subcontracts are produced and maintained, to support Project Claim Strategy using appropriate methods of delay analysis to prepare EOT/ Cost claims.

  • Ensure proper notices are given in line with contract requirements.

  • Management of claims to/from customers and consortium partners/ suppliers. Support the management of claims to/from Customer and Suppliers as required.

  • Management of customer Variation Requests/Orders.

  • Management of Project Insurances: Submission, monitoring and settlement of insurance claims in accordance with the policies.

  • Support and guidance to Project team on general contractual issues. Clarification of contractual/legal queries, if required by referring to Legal.

  • Providing Contract Management support as required in the event of a (potential) dispute

  • Undertaking any other contractual/commercial tasks as instructed/requested by Project Director and/or Operations Management.

  • Lead customer negotiations, ensuring an acceptable risk profile for GE given the specific scope of supply and deal dynamics; engage with approvers and subject-matter experts as necessary

  • Build & operate Risk Review sessions to drive early engagement, strategy development and approvals with region & product teams as well as Operations, and supporting functions (legal, finance, tax, EHS, etc), ensuring leadership alignment at all levels to obtain necessary decisions timely

  • Objectives, targets and performance measurements are defined on a yearly basis in line with the published business objectives and Project Director/ Operations Management objectives.

  • Main targets should be related to contract analysis, contract management, claims management, risk and opportunity identification and any commercial action plan.

  • Propose and draft Project Contract Commercial Plan including Project Claim Strategy.

  • Provide notices to GE Customers, Consortium Partners, Suppliers and Insurances in consultation with Project Director.

  • Authority to escalate any disagreement within the Project regarding contractual issues via his Line Management/ functional management.

  • Ensuring that the site portions of all subcontracts are followed and fulfilled to the benefit of GE GA.

  • Optimizing the financial results of GE GA for site activities contracts.

  • Ensuring that all important site records are adequately maintained.

  • Ensuring the correct Site process and tools are in place and followed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal, Engineering or related background

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in Contract & Claim Management, Commercial Operations, Risk Mitigation, and/or project management role

  • Proficiency in English, French and Arabic

  • Experience in the contract management at project site and excellent contract law know how in similar industry

  • Experience in complex negotiations with strong technical understanding

  • Strong communication, leadership skills and strategic mindset

  • Experience in project management with excellent stake holder management skills

  • Knowledge of electrical transmission or power projects

  • In-depth knowledge of contractual terms and conditions; claim management, schedule analysis and experience in structuring and negotiating contracts to minimize business risk
