Qualifications
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: 1. Minimum Education: Baccalaureate degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science required. In lieu of Baccalaureate degree, employee may qualify with 15 years or more experience in a CLIA certified laboratory. 2. Minimum Work Experience: One year clinical laboratory internship required 3. Certifications: ASCP, AMT, and/or NCA preferred or eligible 4. Mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the college level required
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to read, write, and converse in English; 2. Ability to follow instructions, reason, and make appropriate judgments; 3. Ability to perform computer functions accurately and quickly; 4. Ability to perceive pertinent details and objects in pictorial or graphic material; 5. Ability to perceive pertinent details from verbal and tabular material; 6. Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, and fingers in order to make skillful, accurate, and precise movements; 7. Ability to communicate with patients, family, staff, physicians, and others; 8. Ability to accurately evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions; 9. Ability to cope with and remain calm under stress; 10. Ability to speak and hear, to allow discussions with customers, employees, and peers; 11. Ability to perceive similarities and differences in color; 12. Ability to understand the overall technology, operation, and troubleshooting of moderate and complex instrumentation (example: hospital and laboratory information systems, highly automated specimen processing and testing instrumentation); 13. Ability to perform mathematical operations quickly and accurately; 14. Ability to understand and explain the theories of laboratory specimen processing; 15. Ability to multi-task productively and accurately 16. Ability to remain focused on job responsibilities.
