Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:Experience interpreting, comprehending, and developing processes in accordance with requirement and regulation documentation.

Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with minimal guidance.

Knowledge of records retention policies related to government records (i.e., NARA requirements, DOE directives related to management of government records).

Experience implementing or maintaining a software solution.

Ames National Laboratory is a Department of Energy (DOE) funded national laboratory operated through a contractual agreement with Iowa State University.

This position serves as the Records Management Specialist and point of contact for the DOE Ames National Laboratory Records Management Program, which operates in compliance with DOE Directives and the Code of Federal Regulations. The responsibilities of this position include Records Management program oversight; supervision of students performing scanning functions; developing standards for and overseeing the implementation of indexing and proper storage of emergency operating records, employee medical records, official personnel files, laboratory research notebooks, and all required departmental records; expanding and maintaining electronic records management software; serving as a resource to the entire Laboratory on records; and developing procedures to ensure that those records are maintained appropriately and securely based on federal records standards and retention schedules.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator, both orally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences across all levels of the organization. The ability to partner with others will be critical as will the need to be organized while remaining agile. Attention to detail and the ability to interpret guidance are attributes key to success in this role, as well as a desire to help others understand and develop solutions for compliance with their records management responsibilities with minimal disruption to their other job responsibilities and passion for enabling research performed in pursuit of Ames National Laboratory and DOE’s mission and goals.
