Job Summary
Performs direct and indirect tasks which contribute to quality care for patients in the Medical Procedures Center. Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a professional nurse and/or Provider. Supports operational functions in the East Ann Arbor Medical Procedures Center. Assists in obtaining and caring for equipment. Helps maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Responsibilities*
Support a multidisciplinary team within the Medical Procedures Unit.
Assist with pre-procedural / intra-procedural, and post-procedural medical processes as needed.
Perform patient intake, information gathering, procedural EMR entry, and patient preparation for procedures.
Skills include taking vital signs, EKGs, performing and or assisting with simple diagnostic tests and procedures, collecting specimens, supply stocking, and maintenance of patient care areas.
Assist with transporting patients in various scenarios: ambulatory, wheelchair, stretcher or bed.
Handle and manage equipment and accessories needed during procedures
Assist with post procedure cleaning and management of endoscopes and accessories.
Work directly with nurses regarding patient concerns/issues/questions.
Provide support to all providers and clinical staff.
Perform patient care administrative tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications*
High School diploma
Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Exhibits a professional and positive image
Must adhere to a high standard of personal and professional conduct;
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; and demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse population.
Candidates must be able to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Candidate must demonstrate problem solving skills, proficient computer and keyboarding skills, and excellent attendance.
Desired Qualifications*
Experience working in a Medical Procedures setting
Proficient in Epic EMR
Previous Endo tech experience is preferred
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
Work Schedule
Hours/week: 40 hours/week
Shift: Day and evening shift; Monday - Saturday, variable shifts with variable start times and shift lengths.
Flexibility in scheduling is required.

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
