Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description
We are looking to hire heavy equipment operators to work on solar site construction projects. The ideal candidate can operate the excavator and dozer and has experience using GPS equipment that is attached to the equipment to help track progress and location. This job will require candidates to get out of the equipment and assist on labor work. Sites will range from 3 acres up to over 20 acres. This is a travel position, and candidates will receive per diem if they are traveling with the company.
Responsibilities
Operate heavy machinery to move, dig, load, and unload materials at construction sites.
Excavate: Dig trenches, backfill, break concrete or rock, and level ground.
Construct: Pour concrete, clear sites, and build foundations.
Operate bulldozers: Control the tractor and operate the shovel or blade on the front of the vehicle.
Move materials: Push dirt, rocks, and debris, and level the ground.
Consider work surface: Understand how the surface you're working on could affect your duties, such as the weather, material softness, or compaction.
Maintain equipment: Perform routine inspections, repairs, and adjustments to equipment.
Ensure safety: Conduct pre-operational checks and adhere to strict safety protocols.
Communicate: Consult with other operators and foremen to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
Essential Skills
2+ years of experience operating a dozer for roadway, solar, or commercial site construction.
Experience using a GPS to track the location of equipment, specifically the dozer and grading operations.
Willingness to assist on labor work on site.
Willingness to travel within the Northeast.
Willingness to work overtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
OSHA 10 certification.
Mechanical and technological aptitude.
Hand-eye coordination.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work in a team and pay attention to detail.
Ability to inspect and maintain machinery.
Understanding of operating instructions and safety protocols.

Work Environment
100% of the work is outdoors, often in old farmland, cleared land, inactive landfills, and open fields. Work will continue during weather that is not hazardous to the safety of the crew, including rain, snow, cold, heat, and wind. The typical shift is Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday work. Candidates must be available to work past 3:30 pm, with overtime of 2-20 hours per week depending on the project schedule. Crew size will range from 1-2 up to 10, and candidates will report to a foreman or project superintendent.

This is a Contract position based out of Apalachin, New York.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $81.50 - $81.50/hr.
