Amentum Criminal Intelligence Analyst (Domestic Terrorism) in Arlington, Virginia

Work entails supporting law enforcement investigations and managing an analytic portfolio focused on matters pertaining to domestic terrorism, violent extremism, threats to life and property, domestic (U.S.) affairs, domestic violent extremism, and other relevant homeland security matters as they pertain to the current threat environment. This position demands substantial attention to detail; exceptional analytical skills; strong writing, briefing and communication skills; proactive work ethic; knowledge of database structure, data query syntax and data analysis tools; strong information coordination skills; and the capability to collaborate in a team environment. Strong competency navigating the Internet, to include open source/social media content providers and platforms.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collection, review, collation, analysis, preparation and dissemination of data, information, and sensitive intelligence to/from Federal, state, and local law enforcement, public safety, and other partners, to include private sector security.

  • Researching various documents, reports, raw data, and internet-based material, applying structure analytic techniques, and summarizing results for inclusion in assessments, reports, and presentations.

  • Utilizing various software technologies, to include email, word processing and report publishing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation programs; as well as geospatial analysis (GIS mapping), social network analysis (SNA) and link analysis platforms.

  • Communicating, coordinating, and collaborating with internal colleagues and external professional partners, verbally and in written form.

  • Complying with all appropriate federal, state, and local legal, policy, and regulatory requirements as they pertain to criminal intelligence, law enforcement data access and data sharing, and applying sound professional judgment to ensure the protection of privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties.

  • Capable of utilizing analytic software with minimum training, writing/publishing analytic reports/assessments with minimum guidance, and independently providing tactical analysis and investigative case support to law enforcement field operations.

Required:

  • Strong understanding of privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties issues as they pertain to the intelligence cycle within local law enforcement and an intelligence fusion center environment.

  • Strong understanding of the National Threat Evaluation and Reporting (NTER) Program and the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI).

  • Subject matter expertise in matters pertaining to behavioral threat assessment, both international and domestic (U.S.) affairs, and violent extremism as they pertain to the current threat environment.

  • Ability to work well within a team environment.

  • Ability to maintain focus under pressure.

  • Analytic experience within in a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency and/or state/major urban area fusion center.

  • Strong writing and briefing skills.

  • Expertise in writing intelligence assessments for intelligence community or law enforcement consumers.

  • Experience performing tactical intelligence analysis in support of criminal investigations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Level 3:

  • High School/GED; Nine (9) years’ experience

  • Bachelors's Degree; Four (4) years' experience

  • Master's Degree; Two (2) years' experience

Level 4:

  • High School/GED; Eleven (11) years' experience

  • Bachelor's Degree; Six (6) years' experience

  • Master's Degree; Four (4) years' experience

**Candidates are required to pass a background check, to include a drug test, with the Boston Police Department as a condition of employment and must be able to obtain and maintain a national security clearance at the Top Secret level.
