GCyber Lead Network Architect in Arlington, Virginia

GCyber is hiring a Lead Network Architect to support a large Network Infrastructure Operations and Sustainment program for a high visibility DoD customer with equipment and personnel in geographically disparate locations. This position requires an understanding of best practices of network security and may require the development, deployment, and integration of network security services. Successful candidates should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

This position is 100% on site in Arlington, VA. 

As a Lead Network Architect, you will:

 

  • Analyze customer requirements and solve complex network problems with innovative solutions.

  • Provide expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.

  • Provide expert knowledge for maintaining network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintaining system backup and recovery capability.

  • Test and evaluate new communications technologies to enhance the capabilities of the network and coordinate the acquisition of hardware and software as necessary.

  • Design and build components for computer or telecommunications networks and create plans and configure systems for data communication networks.

  • Coordinate the configuration of routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.

  • Coordinate LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitor the network utilizing industry-leading technologies.

  • Provide innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process and plan implementation of enhancements.

  • Serve as a Team or Task Lead and provide guidance to less experienced professionals.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

     

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance

  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, or Management Information Systems, and a minimum of 8 -12 years of documented experience in a similar role to this position.

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (i.e. Security+, CySA+, CCNA-Security, CND, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP)

  • Must have ONE or more of the following active network certifications:

  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

  • Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA).

  • Experience monitoring network performance and resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.

  • 7+ years' primary role operating, troubleshooting, and installing network routers and switches.

  • 5+ years as senior or lead engineer in planning, designing, and building software defined networks.

  • 5+ years' experience in a DoD environment

  • Use of current and emergent network design principles and protocols

  • Experience with multi-tenant network architectures.

  • Familiarity with a wide variety of network routing and switching equipment devices from multiple vendors.

  • Scripting languages such as Pearl, and Python, coding for network threshold events.
