Amazon Sr. Manager, External Affairs, Customer Trust External Relations in Arlington, Virginia

Description

Customer Trust External Relations (CTXR) ensures global thought-leaders, brands, policymakers, regulators, and media understand how Amazon delivers Earth's safest and most trustworthy shopping experience by (1) delivering evidence and telling stories that persuasively demonstrate the reality of the customer-obsessed tools our teams build to protect our customers, brands, and selling partners, (2) accelerating and strengthening third-party, influential relationships and partnerships all over the world that raise the bar for retail to consumers’ benefit, and (3) serving as a “voice of the customer” for product and tech teams.

Amazon believes we have a responsibility to protect customers, brands, and our store from counterfeit products and we work hard to do that. By using a combination of advanced machine learning capabilities and expert human investigators, we have built robust proactive controls to protect our store from bad actors and bad products. Amazon pairs these proactive controls with powerful tools for rights owners to more effectively protect their brands by partnering with us. We work with brands and law enforcement to hold more counterfeiters accountable, to deter these criminals from abusing our store, and to stop them from selling counterfeits anywhere. While we are proud of the progress we have made, we know that counterfeiters will not stop trying to deceive consumers and we will keep innovating to stay ahead of them. There is still a lot more work to do and we believe we can be far more effective by working together across the private and public sector.

We’re looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial leader, with a deep understanding of business needs, high-value communications, and government or regulatory environments, to lead our global strategy and own execution inside North America to: (1) improve perception of our work to protect customers from counterfeits and other types of IP infringement, and (2) partner with influentials to advance the global retail industry’s fight against counterfeits. The candidate for this highly visible role is able to both define and execute the strategy, and thrives on delivering measurable results and impact. They balance setting a global agenda and driving progress by scaling through others worldwide against directly serving as the “face” of conversations and engaging directly with partners in North America. They are known for excellent judgement and external communications skills, and are comfortable with public engagements. They are an excellent collaborator and leader who can inspire others to take action in their direct organization, as well as more broadly. They are an experienced leader who is able to run and inspire a small nimble team to have big impact, while earning trust with complex networks of internal stakeholders, leading through others.

Key job responsibilities

• Developing and driving a global strategy focused on improving perception of our work to protect customers from counterfeits and partner with influentials to advance the global retail industry’s fight against counterfeits.

• Ensuring there is an integrated project plan across multiple regions, topics, and issues that looks around corners to lead executives and business leaders to success

• Partnering with key internal stakeholders, not only inside CTXR itself, but global public policy teams, public relations, marketing, legal, and other business teams to change perception among key targets

• Owning the execution of the strategy in North America, while partnering internationally to ensure progress is made globally via region-specific strategies, developing key projects and associated KPIs to deliver global progress

• Building and strengthening relationships with third-party organizations and advocacy groups, identifying new opportunities for partnership and launching those partnerships at scale

• Embracing experimentation with storytelling and creative communications at scale to educate and excite external partners

• Identifying and exploring any gaps between perception and reality, and influencing partner teams’ roadmaps to deliver solutions

• Effectively cascading initiatives throughout the organization and across teams by setting a bold direction and energizing their team to follow and deliver quality results by defining, implementing, and monitoring effective mechanisms, processes, and metrics to measure success

• Attracting, engaging, and retaining a diverse team, as well as leading through others

• Participate in external meetings, conferences, and other external moments focused on authenticity and anti-counterfeiting work, which may include frequent domestic travel
