Sr Manufacturing Technician

How will you make an impact?

Manufacturing Technicians provide technical support for special processes and assembly operations for current production products and for new products and process development. This role interacts with a large cross section of the Thermo Fisher Employee base inclusive of hourly line workers, team leads, shift supervisors, quality engineers, R&D, maintenance, and site leadership.

A Day in the Life:

  • You will succeed in this role if you enjoy: resolving problems, improving existing processes, and maintaining critical documentation.

  • Establish and optimize manufacturing processes, methods, and procedures to assure product conformance, quality, and cost effectiveness.

  • Resolve production issues and keep production running to support customer requirements until corrective actions can be implemented. Partner with Set-up, Maintenance, Quality, Operators, and other groups as needed to accomplish this.

  • Identify and implement Continuous Improvement projects and/or general improvement projects, applying Lean methodologies and PPI (Practical Process Improvement) tools.

  • Provide technical assistance and expertise to manufacturing in problematic situations, implementing corrective actions, and providing training as the need arises.

  • Establish and maintain manufacturing specifications, i.e., BOM (Bill of Materials), routings, set up sheets and other related technical recommendations and documentation.

  • Able to join or assemble components by heating and melting parts together with brazing rods or soft solder.

  • Prepare brazing material and equipment

  • Ensure quality of braze components

  • Inspect and test braze parts

  • Maintain brazing equipment

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing experience of 1+ years working in a manufacturing environment with ISO quality standards strongly preferred

  • Requires High School diploma or GED. A 2-year technical degree would be a plus.

  • Knowledgeable in advanced data collection, measuring, analysis, improvement, and control

  • Excellent prioritization, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels in an organization.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of BAAN is preferred
