How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op student to support our Dangerous Goods Program . This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in aviation safety, regulatory compliance, and data management while working alongside industry professionals. The Co-op will assist with critical tasks such as baggage discrepancy reporting, permit renewals, data analysis, administrative duties, and compliance tracking. This position will provide valuable experience in aviation management, safety, supply chain logistics, and industrial systems engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Baggage Discrepancy Reporting – Review reports and prepare for submission to the FAA. Provide support for reporting process and process improvements.

  • Permit Renewals & Tracking – Assist in completing application processes for international permit renewals.

  • New Station Opening Process – Participate in calls related to the opening of new stations.

  • Regulatory Reporting (5800.1 Reports) – Prepare reports for managerial review and regulatory submission.

  • Presentation Preparation – Develop presentations for key meetings, such as Environmental Health and Safety Summits, Dangerous Goods Council, and Delta Safety Assurance Group.

  • Incident Tracking – Manage investigation/event entries and responses; clean up and maintain the quality and risk database(s).

  • Station Support – Manage the quality and tracking of station support data.

  • SharePoint & Dangerous Goods Portal Maintenance – Organize and maintain content on the Dangerous Goods Management Group SharePoint and DeltaNet portal.

  • Data Analysis & Decision Support – Conduct data analysis to support compliance and safety decision-making.

  • Dangerous Goods Manual and SOP Management – Assist in the management of our compliance manual and standard operating procedures.

  • Travel – This position will require some overnight travel to support the Dangerous Goods program.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution

  • At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale.

  • Must be available to work on a full-time basis for 3 alternating semesters: Fall 2025, Summer 2026, and Spring 2027.

  • This position requires student to work for 3 alternating semesters. Student cannot actively take any courses (inclusive of online or in-person) and work as a Co-op/Intern at the same time, which may delay graduation by 1-2 semesters.

  • Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the Co-op.

  • Working as a Co-op/Intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity at Delta Air Lines upon graduation. This position is intended to provide educational and professional work experience to prepare the student for the workforce.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Aviation Management & Safety, Supply Chain Management & Logistics, or Industrial Systems Engineering from a recognized academic institution.
