Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: The OR Coordinator is responsible for the overall success of the assigned service line and surgeons that fall under the service line specialty and the management of inventory for selected service line specialty on a daily basis, management of instruments and equipment needed for each surgeon, management of intra-operative surgical case flow and efficiencies/ surgical volume, and the education and competencies of all other staff members supporting the assigned service line specialty. Proactively communicates with surgeons, vendors, supporting staff and leadership keeping everyone updated on and informed of upcoming OR cases. Participates in the growth of the service line by improving efficiencies and standards of the assigned service line and is responsible for fostering relations and building rapport with physicians to ensure continued utilization of the service line specialty. Functions as the communications link to physicians, office personnel, nursing staff, allied healthcare professionals and patients and their families. Responsible for maintaining quality standards for responsive service and professional documentation, maintaining current and accurate policies, procedures and practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: External candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Internal candidates may be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's Degree in Nursing. 2 years of experience in an OR and minimum of 6 months experience in that particular service line. Must be recommended by the OR director and service line surgeons. Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. BLS and ACLS certifications required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
