Job Description:

At Regions, the Instructional Designer designs and develops appropriate strategies for implementing instructional technology across a broad range of initiatives and programs utilizing accepted instructional theories and principles. This position collaborates with business unit subject-matter experts, stakeholders, and other team members to resolve issues related to technology used in trainings as well as develop solutions for courses, programs, and business units.

The position at this level utilizes advanced technical knowledge in instructional design, adult learning methodologies, leading a range of projects as well as supporting complex, cross-functional projects and leading the work of other team members when necessary.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements complete evaluation strategies for learning solutions in collaboration with learning and development and analytical partners

  • Leads and conducts full performance and job task analyses and serves as a resource for peers for related analysis activities

  • May be responsible for researching or reviewing vendor solutions to meet business needs

  • Leads mid/large-scale projects to meet business goals; may lead others when necessary

  • Leads meetings with business unit subject-matter experts; gathers content, validates performance goals, and designs course structure/flow

  • Writes clear, performance-based learning objectives, practice, and assessment items supporting the evaluation strategy

  • Independently develops training strategy recommendations, design plans, evaluation strategies, content maps, storyboards, or training prototypes, and mentors others on related subjects

  • Independently develops sophisticated training programs, including blended solutions and performance support

  • Utilizes multiple technologies and software (e.g. Articulate, Captivate, Illustrator, video, and other tools)

  • Develops higher-level taxonomy assessments for performance-based learning solutions

  • Prototypes and develops content; collaborates with subject-matter experts to iteratively enhance and improve content using Agile methodology

  • Develops and executes communications and implementation plans

  • Publishes, tests, and files learning solutions using documented processes

  • Mentors other team members on LMS activities and course versioning and completion activities

  • Collaborates with learning and development and analytical partners to develop Level 3 assessment instruments that measure transfer of skills and knowledge to the job

  • Mentors other designers on developing valid Level 2 assessment items

  • Tracks project status updates and time/effort of key tasks for design team efforts

  • Reports weekly project status updates to applicable associates

  • Develops project timelines with minimal supervision to deliver learning solutions and components on time

  • Develops, monitors, and adheres to project milestones to deliver learning solutions and components on time

  • Utilizes Waterfall and/or Agile methodologies to support training projects

  • Keeps subject-matter experts and others informed regarding milestones for communications, content reviews, and approval deadlines

  • Completes final versioning of course materials for record retention

  • Coaches and serves as a mentor to junior team members when necessary

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience within Instructional Design developing training and blended learning programs, of which two (2) years of experience with training needs assessments and/or performance consulting

  • Or High School Diploma or GED and nine (9) years of relevant experience within Instructional Design developing training and blended learning programs, of which two (2) years of experience with training needs assessments and/or performance consulting

  • Experience working with instructional design methodology and related operational processes, as well as consulting and collaboration

Preferences

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or similar coursework

  • Experience in the financial services industry

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to learn additional systems as needed

  • Ability to research, analyze data, and derive facts

  • Ability to select appropriate learning solutions based on learner needs

  • Ability to work independently, with limited guidance

  • Ability to work in a team environment when applicable

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

This role can work remote within a reasonable driving distance to a Professional Office Building with the primary locations being for Birmingham, Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, or Shreveporto. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position and would be at your own expense.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Applications (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc., other development software such as Vyond and Camtasia)

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

Median:

$91,580.00 USD
