The Sr. Communication Specialist develops consistent messaging to support the strategic communication goals of the Enterprise. This position will develop/write, edit and proofread a variety of internal communications, including newsletters, news releases and strategic communications materials. Will ensure messages are consistent with corporate standards to promote a positive image of the organization. * Consult with internal departments and develop content that promotes appropriate and accurate messaging. * Write, prepare and/or review articles and oversee weekly, monthly or quarterly Enterprise communications. * Coordinate with designers to produce communications as needed. * Collaborate with team members on projects and deadlines to ensure consistency with all Enterprise communications. * Conduct research on relevant industry topics, news and trends in the course of preparing articles, letters, emails and other communications. * Lead a variety of projects as assigned. * Ensure all documents meet established content and quality standards. * Participate in department creative sessions to promote a collaborative approach to meeting customer needs. * Write talking points for Executive Staff as needed. * Provide proofreading support and copy editing as needed. * Maintain editorial policies and standards. * Participate in discussions to develop department goals, objectives and systems. * Handle miscellaneous projects as assigned. * Work with minimal supervision. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field. Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged. * Five (5) years relevant communications experience in a communications or marketing environment, writing marketing content and collateral materials. * Relevant experience in an insurance organization highly preferred. * Knowledge of the insurance industry and the workers' compensation marketplace preferred. * Proficiency in the use of computers and company standard software specific to position. * Thorough knowledge of AP style. * Proficiency with MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Visio and Excel). * Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere). Video experience preferred. * Ability to effectively exchange information clearly and concisely and present ideas, report facts and other information and respond to questions as appropriate. * Ability to interact with others to build consensus. * Ability to meet necessary deadlines. * Advanced oral and written communication skills. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * Ability to establish work flows, manages multiple projects, and meets necessary deadlines. * Ability to make competent, independent decisions. * Ability to maintain confidentiality. * Ability to perform other assignments at locations outside the office.
