Position: Network Underground P&C Test Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Join our team as a Network Underground P&C Test Engineer and play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Atlanta's underground network systems.

What You'll Do:

  • Hands-On Experience: Work on energized equipment in enclosed, below-grade spaces.

  • Technical Skills: Write switching orders and use hot line tools for circuit switching on medium voltage equipment (4KV to 25KV).

  • Innovation: Assist in developing and implementing new technology for SCADA system monitoring.

  • Team Collaboration: Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to system emergencies and concerns.

  • Customer Interaction: Handle inquiries and communicate effectively with high-profile customers to ensure top-notch satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and scheduled tests on protective relays, control circuits, and other substation equipment using specialized testing equipment.

  • Set up and test new protection and control systems during the construction or upgrade of a substation.

  • Diagnose faults in protection and control systems, identify root causes, and make necessary repairs or adjustments.

  • Interpret test results, analyze data to identify potential problems, and generate reports for engineers and maintenance teams.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on protection and control equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent failures.

  • Adhere to strict safety procedures while working in high voltage environments, including proper lockout/tagout practices.

Essential Skills:

  • Understanding of electrical power systems and principles of protective relaying.

  • Expertise in using specialized testing equipment like relay testers, power quality analyzers, and communication test sets.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.

  • Knowledge of substation automation systems (SCADA) and communication protocols.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) OR Associate Degree in a Technical Field (Electronics, Electrical, Maintenance Technology, etc.).

Work Environment:

  • This position involves working 60% in the field and 40% in the office.

  • The role includes working on energized equipment in enclosed spaces that are below grade and requires adherence to strict safety procedures.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
