Responsibilities

As a Trust & Safety Operations Guideline and Procedure Author , you will be the foundation of the Microsoft teams responsible for driving machine learning, AI technology and digital safety enabling Microsoft’s customers to solve real business solutions across a variety of use cases.

Primarily, you will be providing centralized services for our global human review teams who deliver annotation guidelines, data labelling, and content moderation to enable digital safety across Microsoft’s products. The Trust & Safety Operations Guideline and Procedure Author , will come across a broad spectrum of offensive, sensitive, or mature material and will be required to work with this type of content for the protection of Microsoft’s customers.

The role is located in Atlanta, Georgia or Redmond, Washington and will work directly with our global team.

As a Trust & Safety Operations Guideline and Procedure Author , you will:

  • Use your linguistics, research, and publication skills to take policy and design, document the guidelines and operational procedures for ensuring agreed upon standards with internal customers and stakeholders.

  • Use your instructional design and teaching experience to ensure employee comprehension and consistent application of policy guidelines. Determine various ways to drive quality output, for example: employee training, coaching or material updates.

  • Use your applied linguistics expertise, process design, change management, training, and/or other process improvement skills to help us drive standardized efficiencies at scale.

  • Ability to anticipate policy, product or end user needs and proactively seek to respond to those needs by shaping the content harms framework in the envisaged direction

  • Work in operations side-by-side with the subject matter experts and then come back with solutions for process and/or policy improvement.

  • Leverage the work of teammates and colleagues in linguistics, operations, and engineering, while positioning your work so it can be leveraged by others.

  • Be able to communicate your work and the work of the team to our broad set of senior stakeholders.

  • Be a change agent, starting by modeling how to adopt change with agility and prepare others.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics, Humanities, Business Operations, Finance or related field AND 4+ years work experience in policy management, program management, process management, process improvement

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic or real-world experience in Generative AI, Responsible AI, Digital Safety, Security, Compliance or Risk Management.

  • Motivated to work with internationally and geographically distributed teams.

  • Experience in identifying issues, investigating, developing a solution, implementing change and monitoring results.

  • Experience influencing others, where support is critical to success.

  • Experience operationalizing policy and/or research into repeatable procedures using a structured, research and linguistic-based approach.

  • Experience working with human generated or AI generated harmful materials across multiple media types and creating objective recommendations, grounded and supported by linguistical research and data.

  • Proven ability to work with Engineering and Operations teams.

Business Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
