Quality Engineer Description:
Warranty Quality Analyst -- Candidate must be a creative problem solver, proactive and steadfast in the identification and resolution of quality issues and improving Vehicle Warranty. The selected individual will have experience in automotive and possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing and quality landscape. The candidate must be high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions -- a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others. Person will be responsible for quality monitoring activities in collaboration with Suppliers, Quality, Engineering & Technical Service Operations with a focus on:
- Field failure data analysis and warranty reduction
- Assessment of production part changes and the subsequent impact on service parts
- Recommendation and implementation of process improvements at supplier remanufacturing locations
The responsibilities will include at a minimum:
• Manage & resolve product launch quality issues and manage continuous improvement activities for a given Commodity or Vehicle systems:
• Monitor customer product quality levels, including field diagnostic issues, with a focus on improvement through corrective action and product enhancements.
• Plan, prioritize, set goals and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment.
• Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
• Develop relationships and work closely with the various internal Engineering Organizations to ensure transfer of product knowledge within the appropriate service organizations.
• Participate in technical discussion and collaborate with the cross-functioning teams such as product design, quality, service operations, purchasing, inventory control and program management.
Quality Engineer Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years of Product or Quality Engineering experience
• Strong technical knowledge of the design and manufacture of Automotive Systems/Components
• Knowledge of dealer diagnostics and repair procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Software: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to travel domestically
Preferred Requirements:
• In depth knowledge of troubleshooting Automotive Systems & Components
• Manufacturing, design release and/or supplier quality experience are also desired
• Ability to prioritize current issues, resolve them in a timely manner and effectively communicate resolution to internal teams and our customer
• Excellent analytic and problem solving skills
• Working experience with organization's diagnostic tools (wiTECH or CDA)
• Strong background in Powertrain Assemblies such as Engines, Transmissions and Drivelines.
NOTES:
• Onsite/ Remote Hybrid - Primarily remote but will do on-site reviews at the Warranty Center on a monthly basis
• Amount of travel, of so where: 10-25% - Warranty Center in Auburn Hills, MI and local suppliers
