Job Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic performs intermediate level, on-demand,
corrective, and preventative maintenance on machinery, plumbing,
carpentry, building, electrical equipment, and patient rooms. May work
independently in troubleshooting with specialty trades such as carpentry,
HVAC, electrical, etc.

EDUCATION - High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE - Two yearsrelevant experiencein a healthcare, commercial or
industrial setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the
following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the
functions which the employee may be expected to perform.Performs a variety of
intermediateand emergency repairs and preventative maintenance to hospital
buildings, community clinics, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and
grounds, keeping all areas in proper condition.
Operates a variety of equipment including hand and power tools to perform
repair and maintenance work; maintains tools and equipment in a safe,
clean and proper working condition.
Completes assigned rounds on shift as required; maintains current and
accurate information by updating maintenance schedules and records.
Provides general assistance to skilled tradesmen such as mechanics,
electricians, carpenters, plumbers, painters, etc.; may troubleshoot
lamp issues, snake drains, replace valves and stems, basic repairs for
doors, closures and handles, replace and cut ceiling tiles; minor
repairs to pneumonic tube system, etc.
Uses multiple technologies for tracking work order requests, tracking time
and materials, processing needed supplies and maintaining needed inventory.
Responsible for safe handling of potentially hazardous materials.
Responds to facilities emergencies; resolves issue if appropriate;
escalates if needed.
Participates in root cause analysis process, recommends repair options and
best methodology.
May work solo shifts as needed.
May have on-call responsibilities depending on location.
May perform basic regulatory testing/inspections.
