Aston Carter Accounting Manager in Aurora, Illinois

Job Duties:

• Coordinating accounting functions and programs.

• Preparing financial analyses and reports.

• Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditures.

• Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.

• Maintaining and reconciling balance sheets and general ledger accounts.

• Train and supervise junior accountants to comply with company procedures.

• Preparing federal, state, local, and special tax returns.

• Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.

• Partner with project DELTEK Consultant to ensure efficient implementation company wide

• Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned

• Work with the ownership group to streamline accounting processes to reduce work paper and document requirements.

• Performed month-end/year-end close, financial statement preparation and budget variances. Assisted management in resolving variances.

Other duties assigned:

• Internally prepare all the data, month-end year end, loans, and bank reconciliations, up to where the return would be completed.

• The company does not have an HR Team so the financial duties fall into this person's plate.

• Does Payroll 50 employees (in DELTEK) Primarily reporting and 940's and 941s payroll returns, unemployment insurance, oversees the insurance renewals, prequalification process (process only involves communicating with outside vendors 1-2 times a year)

• Handles the benefits (management) –

• Manage Junior Accountant and current intern

• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable

• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results

• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status

• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending

• Then they have a junior accountant - AP, AR, invoicing, and is getting deflected. Wants this person to take on more of the responsibilities and

• No projections, forecasting or budgeting.

• Partner with the ownership group to analyze data, forecast projects, implement budget changes, updates and overall collaborate to ensure company finances are in line


• Associate's Degree in Accounting or similar; Bachelor's Degree in accounting preferred.

• Proven experience as an Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Clerk or in a related finance position.

• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.

• Proficiency in using accounting software (DELTEK Vantagepoint is a plus) and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel).

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies and payment issues.

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with vendors and clients professionally.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.

• Knowledge of engineering industry billing practices and regulations is a plus.
