Performs facilities engineering work related to buildings and site development, in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, and construction administration. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties: Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.Monitors consultant design contracts.Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements.Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Reviews, processes and certifies project design plans developed by consulting engineers.Serves as a project manager overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work.Prepares and seals engineering construction documents for bidding.Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests relative to facility construction.Utilize project management principals in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for complex mechanical engineering projects related to facility construction.Coordinates phases of preliminary design and revisions in PSE with districts, divisions, Administration, contractors, fabricators, and local entities.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
