Amazon Frontend Engineer III, AWS Redshift in Austin, Texas

Description

Amazon Redshift Service is looking for a Sr. Frontend engineer to build world-class user interfaces for our customers. If you’re an application engineer, and you have the skills to create highly interactive and well-designed web interfaces, then AWS is looking for you. You will work on architecting, designing and implementing high performance console applications for our customers to interact with AWS Redshift.

Amazon Redshift is a rapidly growing, fast and powerful, fully managed, petabyte-scale data warehouse service in the cloud. It enables our customers to dramatically increase their performance when analyzing data sets of virtually any size using the same SQL-based business intelligence tools they use today. They can launch a fully operational service with a few clicks for as low as under $1000 per terabyte per year. Amazon Redshift is the fastest and most widely used cloud data warehouse, yet we are constantly improving our service based on our customers’ needs across all areas of the service.

The Amazon Redshift Service team designs, develops and operates software that allows customers to store, query and analyze data at scale in a secure, responsive, and reliable environment. We are currently looking for a rock-star web developer to build world-class user interfaces for our customers. Are you an expert in web technologies? Who you are:

  • Highly-motivated and thrive in an environment where problems are open-ended.

  • Have build applications using Java based stacks such as Spring MVC, Play etc.

  • Strong understanding of CS fundamentals, Object Oriented Design and Data Structures.

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and latest JavaScript standards.

  • Have experience in basic cross browser support, caching and optimization techniques (css sprite, minify, gzip, data uri) for faster page load times.

  • Have experience in developing consumer facing web applications using Ajax.

  • Genuinely excited about technology, have a strong interest in learning and playing with the latest technologies.

Key job responsibilities

  • Translating product requirements for our web applications into well-designed, well-documented, and well-maintained front-end code.

  • Our tech stacks include mostly native AWS services, using AWS CDK, Next.js, and React.js single-page applications, including web views inside other native apps.

  • Your projects will receive direct feedback from internal team members who are not SDEs. This will allow you to learn a new domain and improve applications that are used every day.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience

  • 7+ years of front-end developer creating prototypes or wire-frames for enterprise web applications or workflows experience

  • Experience developing with MVC/MVM frameworks (e.g. React.JS, AngularJS, Vue)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of web services technologies such as SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST

  • Experience in a broad range of software design approaches and common UX patterns.
