Meta Global Lease Accountant in Austin, Texas

Summary:

Meta seeks a self-starter independent Global Lease Accountant in a full-time position. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in US GAAP accounting and reporting related to leases. The candidate needs to work well with cross-functional teams to provide guidance and make decisions as well as able to perform detailed analysis while managing a significant portion of Facebook’s lease assets on our balance sheet.

Required Skills:

Global Lease Accountant Responsibilities:

  1. Perform detail review on accounting approach for a variety of leases of all types, including network assets

  2. Carry out month end close duties, such as record compilation, preparation of manual and system automated journal entries, financial transactions in general ledgers and sub-ledgers, manual journal entries, result analytics, account reconciliations, and internal and external reporting as needed

  3. Perform accounting research for lease transactions, support conclusions with the adequate level of documentation and present the accounting conclusions to the team. Prepare accounting memos and update accounting policies for area of responsibility

  4. Draft various account analyses and reporting package under the instructions and supervision of the accounting managers

  5. Research accounting implications of lease transactions or changes in the subject areas, reach conclusions with adequate level of rationale and documentation for review and communicate and present the accounting conclusions to the team

  6. Leads/participates in complex projects including responsibility for IT system improvements at a tactical level that directly has an impact

  7. Gain an understanding of the different focus areas of infrastructure investment including Fiber, Servers, Network and Storage, Infra Connectivity Programs, Facilities, and Data Center and the associated accounting for each

  8. Drive efficiencies in the financial close with an eye out for process improvement with the ability to work independently on complex accounting issues

  9. Provide support for international entities compliance as it relates to lease accounting IFRS 16

  10. Maintain and ensure compliance with all pertinent Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) documentation and requirements and automate reporting to help the business scale for future growth and assist with other duties as appropriate

  11. Develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners to understand the broader business objectives, develop processes jointly and provide accounting guidance and best practice recommendations to enable process changes and ad hoc projects as assigned

  12. Provide guidance to support staff in order to ensure quality and consistency

  13. Analyze large data sets and work with business partners to effect changes optimizing or re-designing existing processes resulting from business needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 4+ years of financial statements auditing, financial accounting or similar experience

  2. BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance

  3. Understanding of ASC 842 Lease Accounting Standard which includes lease contract reviews, lease identification, classification, accounting, recording, reporting, and reconciliation

  4. Experience with compliance, internal controls over financial reporting

  4. Experience with Costar, Oracle Financials and Hyperion

  5. Proficient in learning accounting systems

  6. Experience analyzing large data sets and working with business partners to effect changes

  7. Experience in optimizing or re-designing existing processes resulting from business needs

Public Compensation:

$91,000/year to $133,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
