Summary:
Perform an integral role with the care team for coordination of complex chemotherapy treatment scheduling. Manage all aspects of scheduling of multi-day/ multi-week treatment cycle schedules for high acuity patients. . Responsible for scheduling infusion treatments, transfusion, labs and COVID Care for oncology patients Demonstrate and convey a cheerful and favorable disposition during stressful patient care delivery for a positive patient experience.
Detailed responsibilities:
Schedule complex chemotherapy treatment plans and cycles including intervening labs, imaging and MD visits as per treatment schedule. Ensure scheduling is timely and without delay in care. Facilitate frequent changes due to patient acuity. Facilitate inpatient transitions and discharges for chemo in coordination with the treatment. Utilize complex algorithms, scheduling guidelines and medication lists for chemotherapy, non-chemotherapy medications and/or transfusions.
Review in-basket message pools and collaborate with providers to ensure timely scheduling upon office visit and/or Hospital discharge. Review in-basket messages. Communicate with infusion leadership to maximize clinic flow.
Coordinate care with Physician, APPs, nurses and fellows to confirm and review treatment regimens and overall plan of care. Coordinate with Pharmacy on drug availability.
Contact patient to coordinate appointment scheduling. Pre-registration prior to date of visit to ensure prior authorization for treatment. Prepare wrist band labels prior day and notate drugs being administered.
Coordinate with Infusion Clinical Nurse Manager for same day add-ons for sick or urgent patients and for transitions from inpatient, transplant alert the authorization team.
Communicate with Preservice/Authorization department to ensure prior authorization of treatment is obtained.
Ability to identify symptoms and refer patients to appropriate APP for symptom management when needed.
Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and with meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrate a strong ability to use initiative and judgment and to identify, analyze and solve problems.

Required Work Experience: Two (2) years scheduling experience in a hospital or clinic with complex scheduling algorithms. Oncology related scheduling experience.
