Job Title: Accounting Associate, Construction

Location: Baltimore, Maryland 21227

Reports to: Controller

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Shift: Monday through Friday – 8:00a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

SUMMARY

The Accounting Associate assists the company in meeting its objectives and goals by performing a variety of data entry and administrative tasks in the Accounting/Finance department. This includes understanding and compliance with established accounting principles, practices, and procedures, and regulatory compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and related federal and state laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verbal and written communication with Project Managers and Project Cost Accountants in the collection of AP documentation for accounting processing.

  • Communication and collaboration with department team members in accounting to ensure efficient and accurate AP processing and system entries.

  • Processing and data entry of accounts payable and accounts receivable documentation and information.

  • Assists with processing of weekly AP check run and administrative processes related to the AP processes.

  • Conduct the electronic scanning and filing Accounting related documentation.

  • Administrative setup and processing of subcontracts and purchase orders to include:

  • Original Contract, Requisitions/Invoices

  • Change Orders, Certificates of Insurance, Lien Releases, & maintaining files

  • Assists with processes and documentation related to the payment of subcontractors and equipment purchase orders.

  • Other administrative duties within the Accounting Department as assigned.

  • Professional demeanor and attire is required.

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and have reliable transportation.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related academic required.

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • A minimum of five years providing administrative support in an Accounting/Finance department is required.

  • An fundamental understanding of accounting practices, procedures and concepts required.

  • Fundamental working knowledge of accounting systems software. Specifically, Starbuilders® or software programs of similar.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient usage and knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.

  • Proficient usage and knowledge of Starbuilders®, Crystal Reports®, and interface with Microsoft Access.

  • Proficient usage and knowledge of Starbuilders® Sequel database to create reports in Excel and Crystal reports preferred, but advanced knowledge not required.

  • Proficient usage and knowledge of Invoice Router, and Application Xtender preferred, but advanced knowledge not required.
