Shire Corporate Executive Assistant in Bannockburn, Illinois


50% Direct support to Chief Compliance & Risk Officer (CCRO) including but not limited to global travel arrangements, coordinating and managing CCRO schedule and provide indirect support to a Global Compliance and Risk Management (GCRM) team. Serve as organizational liaison to Global affiliates and Executive teams. Support local Bannockburn site engagement events.

10% Internal and external interface with high level executives globally. Maintain high level of confidentiality to sensitive information throughout the corporation.

10% Create/prepare correspondence and complex presentations. Develop database/spreadsheets.

10% Prepare expense reports, and help manage department budget. Apply and implement internal policies and also provide training as needed.

10% Will be involved with project management/event coordination. Coordinate large scale events within defined budget.

10% With Business Operations team, coordinate team of Administrative Assistants across GCRM, driving standard operating procedures, service level descriptions and coordinated team efforts of support.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree or professional certification preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience as Executive Assistant or Sr. Executive Assistant level.

Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with high levels of the organization. Maintain highest degree of accuracy and timeliness of work. Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, Lotus Notes and computers/systems. Should also have demonstrated proficiency with Intranet and Internet applications and research. Must be able to handle highly confidential information.

  • Ability to work independently and identify proactive solutions to complex situations. Manage multiple tasks and be significantly detail oriented.

  • Internal both in the GCRM function and within other Shire functions

  • Vendors

  • Customers
