Shire Project Manager in Bannockburn, Illinois

Primary Role

  • Project management role with emphasis on new center development program, a critical business priority. Responsible for all assigned projects ensuring the successful completion of overall project goals met in a timely manner. Lead cross functional team meetings and collaboration to ensure clear actions and interdependent deliverables are completed while constructively providing appropriate guidance and feedback.

Essential Functions

  • Determine the feasibility of a project. Identify vendors and / or systems for the successful completion of the project.

  • Provide central point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring communication with correct personnel and at all levels of the organization.

  • Accountable for the overall project design and implementation of the completed project plan.

  • Responsible for project oversight in order to maximize the effective use of project resources.

  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions in order to achieve project goals and objectives

  • Manage directly or through a matrix environment, core team members who are supporting projects.

  • Performs stakeholder analysis and gathers requirements for each project during the initiation phase.

  • Establishes a regular communication plan with project teams, sponsors, and key stakeholders to ensure appropriate progress is being made on projects.

  • Effectively manages trade-offs between the triple constraints of time, schedule and resources for each project

  • Coordinates agreed upon scope changes when a change is proposed or needed.

  • Must be able to influence without direct reporting authority, must be able to lead and influence up as well as down the org structure.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three to five years previous project management experience. To perform this job satisfactorily, the project manager must demonstrate analytical, problem solving, and leadership skills. They must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with all levels of the organization. Must be an expert in using planning tools such as MS Project and other planning tools, and must have familiarity with the PMBOK and associated knowledge areas. Must have knowledge of such principles as GMPs, FDA/EMEA guidelines.

  • Desired: PMP certification, previous operations or construction management experience preferred.

  • Decisions regarding project work will either be made by or facilitated by the incumbent – depending on the decision being made.

  • This position is accountable to the PPM organization and will consult with or coordinate work with members of all other functions in the organization on a regular basis.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. May require weekend and extended work periods. May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds. Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
