Overview
The Agency of Transportation is seeking Technical Apprentices to work as
Data Collection Technicians. The main duties of the position include
driving a State-owned vehicle to various locations around the state and
setting out automatic traffic tube counters. The position will involve
some in-road work (running the tubes across roadways), and map reading
ability is vital. Some data downloading, data entry and data quality
checking is required. On rare occasions, the positions may be required
to assist other technicians in the installation of in-road inductance
loops or piezo-electric sensors.

The schedule is 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, but can be
flexible for part-time candidates. The position will work from May to
the end of October, but candidates with more limited availability are
welcomed.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in office and field settings for which private
means of transportation must be available. May be required on occasion
to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, traverse rough, wooded
and/or steep terrain, or travel in boats. Field work may involve
exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards and construction sites
during all weather conditions. Duties may require exposure to extreme
weather conditions.
