described in this job description and must be available for the entire
period of employment specified in box 3 & 4, page 1. Workers are needed
to plant, maintain and harvest various vegetable crops, greenhouse
tomatoes and strawberries. Workers must have a working knowledge of and
ability to perform various tasks required in greenhouse tomato
production, including, seeding, planting, harvesting, suckering,
lowering, clipping, harvesting and thinning. Workers will perform field
work including, planting, transplanting, weeding, thinning, hoeing and
other tasks required in the planting, maintaining, and harvesting of
various vegetable and berry crops. Workers will sort, wash, pack and
otherwise prepare various crops for storage and shipping, as well as
transport and deliver various crops from field to farm and/or retail
stand. Workers will load and unload trucks and other farm vehicles,
setup and operate various irrigation equipment, and cut brush and other
vegetation in and around fields, buildings and equipment. Workers will
operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from
housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools,
supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the
farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach
farmer\'s fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank,
or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Driver\'s License may be
required. Workers must be able to work in various extreme weather
conditions from damp and cold spring and fall days to hot and humid
summer days. Work is physically demanding requiring workers to stand,
bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time. Workers must be
able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Workers must
be available for work Monday through Saturday. Daily beginning and
ending times will vary depending on crop and other conditions. The
employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment
required to perform assigned duties. Workers may require to work 10
hours shift within the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Monday through
Saturday. Workers will be given 30 minutes for lunch and a 15-minute
break in the morning or afternoon. Workers must be able to take
direction in simple English.
