Actalent Senior Geologist in Bartow, Florida

Job Description:

Our client is currently seeking a Professional Geologist to join their team.

The PG position is a leadership position established to assist in managing, and expanding the environmental services, which include but are not limited to due diligence risk management, phase 1 and 2 environmental assessments, site remediation technology, environmental sampling, and hydrogeological assessment.

Duties include

  • Initiating, maintaining, and nurturing valuable relationships with key clients, prospects, state and local authorities, and other industry individuals, preparing and delivering presentations to potential and existing clients, and taking part in trade organizations, conferences and other local associations and events.

  • The Geologist will be the main report writer and reviewer for ESAs.

  • They will design remediation plans and systems.

  • They will also have 3-4 mid-level project scientist direct reports, with the responsibility of providing mentorship and management.

The Geologist will spend approximately 80% of their time in the office and 20% in the field.

Clients that they will support include Disney, Publix, Mosaic, SeaWorld, Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC), Teco, Duke, Florida Power & Light (FPL), Seminole Electric, Lakeland Electric, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), US Coast Guard, Blue Origin, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work activities support various aspects of environmental projects that may include preliminary environmental document preparation, remediation systems - design and operation, environmental permitting, storm water system evaluation and inspection, environmental due diligence, environmental site characterization, compliance inspections, and environmental site closure phases.

  • Intermittent field work will consist of Job Site Manager (JSM) project oversight using established company procedures and policies.

  • Ensuring junior level company scientists are periodically trained and mentored as necessary.

  • Work may involve use of complex instrumentation or equipment and may include installation, calibration and/or maintenance of equipment or instrumentation associated with a particular job site.

  • Candidate will work closely with the Project Manager Organization (PMO Team) in implementing project tasks to meet client objectives and priorities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment where changing client priorities result in the need to determine creative ways to get the job done.

  • Candidate must also be flexible and willing to support other projects as needed.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures during the execution of work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Licensed Professional Geologist in the state of Florida

  • 5+ years of work experience in the geology field, primarily related to environmental services including sites assessment, property transfer due diligence, environmental permit sampling, compliance inspections, and supervising contractors.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple activities on an on-going basis by given deadline.

  • Must be able to safely drive to job sites.

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training

Physical Requirement's:

  • Experience working in Florida geologic environments.

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, walk (at times over uneven surfaces), reach with arms and hands, and to stoop or kneel.

  • Personal protective equipment and/or clothing may be occasionally required.
