What you'll be doing...

Lead a team responsible for defining EHS training, programs, conducting risk assessments, calibrating the EHS priorities against injury and illness data, benchmarking, auditing, developing the EHS management system strategy, defining driver safety initiatives, and complying with DOT requirements. In this role, you will provide strategic direction for EHS programs while enhancing EHS tools and communications.

You will perform or manage the following responsibilities:

  • Manage and support the development and growth of a dynamic team of EHS professionals to optimize EHS programs and centralized compliance program implementation.

  • Work with the EHS associate directors on EHS strategies, review risk assessments, and develop team member targets for business operation's compliance and oversight.

  • Overseeing the development and communication of EHS programs designed to assist the business in implementing consistent and standard EHS practices that comply with Federal, State, and local environmental regulations associated with wired and wireless telecommunications operations.

  • Leading auditing and inspection initiatives that monitor EHS and business unit performance, conduct trend analyses, and implement improvements to EHS programs and supporting functions to enhance EHS performance. Monitoring and reporting corrective action closure, ensuring that timely, compliant, and sustainable solutions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Overseeing the monitoring of changes to EHS laws, regulations, and emerging issues and their impact on Verizon, including reputational risk; and developing or updating programs for managing those changes and mitigating the impacts on the business, our employees, and the communities in which we operate.

  • Providing EHS-specific support for sales and marketing initiatives and our annual Responsible Business report

  • Staying updated with industry trends and best practices to identify and implement data-driven solutions that enhance and communicate environmental capabilities and performance.

This will be a hybrid position. You'll have a defined work location, including work from home, and a minimum of eight assigned office days per month, which your manager will set. Willing to accept other US locations for this hybrid role.

What we're looking for...

An effective leader who motivates and inspires a team that develops and implements programs for enterprise wide EHS compliance. Must be a strategic thinker with experience in applying current management principles, theories, concepts, and technologies. Should have implementation and oversight experience for EHS-related disciplines, with proven field experience and EHS regulatory knowledge.

Demonstrated strong collaboration and communication skills; and demonstrated strong writing, research, and analytical skills. Results-driven, detail-oriented, can work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Anticipate needs and issues and proactively identify appropriate solutions-strong ability to work independently and multi-task with the ability to maintain confidential information.

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience with EHS compliance and regulations

  • Experience with Google Suite (docs, sheets, slides, etc.)

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Experience managing people

  • Telecommunications industry experience

  • Strategy and compliance experience

  • Experience with ISO standards and EHS Management Systems

  • Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
