FACILTIES MAINTENANCE
The Incumbent Is tasked with ensuring proper and efficient maintenance and repair of all electrical
systems. All roadway lighting systems, pumpstations, facllitfes and generators.
Assists in monitoring all reconstruction and major repair replacement activities completed by contract services. This Includes making continual Inspections of all systems and operational equipment.
This position participates In the required DOTD struclured training program and obtains additional
training to facilitate the Performance of required tasks.
The incumbent should be able to perform duties many times without direct supervlsionand be
knowledgeable enough to Interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise and take lead role as
well as provide functional supervision over less experienced workers within the unit.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with appllcable Louisiana and CivllServlce
laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTO policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in the electrical trade.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the electrical trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.
Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To perform technical and highly skilled electrical maintenance, repairs and installations on utility plant electrical systems, high voltage transmission systems, traffic signals, electrically operated bridge systems and marine electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
General from an Electrician Specialist Leader, Electrician Specialist Foreman or other maintenance supervisory personnel.
Supervision Exercised:
Functional over Electricians and may exercise functional over Trades Helpers.
Location of Work:
May be used by all State agencies.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Electrician Specialist Foreman by lack of full supervisory duties.
Differs from Electrician in that work is of a more complex nature (work on high voltage transformers, overhead underground and marine distribution lines and cables and the installation and maintenance of traffic signals.
Differs from Electrician Specialist Leader by lack of responsibility for overseeing work of other journeyman and advanced journeyman Electricians.
Examples of Work
30% Install, maintain, andrepair single andthree phase eleotrical services including step down
transformers, service panels, and service connections. Maintain and repair various lighting
systemsincluding roadway lighting, decorative lighling, path lighting and landscaping lighting.
20% Troubleshoot ,install, and repair electric motors and related motors, starters, relays, and
circuit breakers and controls on allof the District's facilities including hydraulic and water pump
motors, traffic gatemotors, and Selsyn sending and receiving units as well as roadway llghling
contactors.
20% service, troubleshoot, and repair control boards and control circuits including eleclrlcal
speed control, relays Including phase failure relays, limit switches, and electrical component
bypass circuits.
15% Troubles hot service, andinstall reversing starters, under voltage lllla\S. and mutt breakers.
lltj:land thre<1 phase.
10% Service andrepair electrical facilities and grounds in District 42, including generators,
transformers, air conditioning units, and indoor lighting. Install conduit of all sizes and run
wire in various sizes and voltage ratings In connection with electrtcal equipment in the District.

emargency/dlsaster support.
