Role: Electrical Engineering Technician - Diageo/Guinness Beer

Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland

Contract: Perm

Closing Date: 7th January 2024

Salary: £50550 pa including shift allowance

This role will require you to work a continental shift pattern which will include day shift and night shift.

About the role

As an Electrical Engineering Technician, you’ll play a pivotal role within our dedicated team by increasing line efficiencies through minimisation of unplanned line stoppages, maximising the effectiveness of planned maintenance and leading continuous improvement activities in your area at our Guinness packaging site at Marshalls Road, Belfast.

You’ll engage with all maintenance personnel to deliver and review effective immediate maintenance and performance turnarounds whilst maintaining operating equipment to maximise uptime and deliver solutions for ‘trending maintenance failures’ (downtime) using root cause problem solving.

You’ll continuously aim for next level of performance with a clear vision aligned with Diageo standards and manufacturing excellence.

Health and safety compliance is key, and you’ll be at the forefront of making sure this is monitored alongside other KPI’s and targets.

This role requires you to work a 42hr week, 24/7 cover consisting of 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, on a rolling 4 on 4 off basis.

About you

We’re looking for someone who can work well within a team as well as the ability to make effective decisions and thrive in situations where they can solve problems.  

You’ll have excellent communication skills and be able to push forward your own ideas about improvements to current approaches and appraise new opportunities. You’ll have the drive to make a positive difference to manufacturing excellence.

You'll be a time served electrical engineer with an understanding of the opposite core skill and have relevant qualifications and demonstrable knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and environmental risk principles.

Requirements – skills and experience

For this role you must have a recognised Electrical apprenticeship, an Electrical HNC or equivalent.

  • Variable frequency drives.

  • Servo drives and motors.

  • Asi bus, profi bus.

  • Electro-pneumatics.

  • PLC experience (desired but not essential).

  • 3 phase motors and control circuits.

  • Mechanical works including bearings, belts, pulleys.

  • 17th/18th Edition Electrical Wiring

Experience – Essential

· Numerical/verbal reasoning, computer literate

· Understanding of Asset Performance and maintenance philosophy with excellent Process Improvement and root cause problem solving skills

· Ability to work autonomously.

· Ability to work in a team and be an effective team member, good communication skills.

· Has strength of character to challenge poor team behaviours

· Is an ambassador for Manufacturing Excellence and continuous improvement

· Responds to change in a positive and flexible manner.

Desirable

· Knowledge of risk standards (Quality H&S Environment) Safety and hygiene compliance procedures

· SAP Experience
