The last mile Routing and Planning tech team is at the heart of our growing logistics network at Amazon. We’re challenged to constantly improve and innovate on our vehicle routing software and tools to better support fast and high-quality delivery to customers. We have among the most complex vehicle routing problems in the industry, including large fleet with diverse capacities, diverse package profiles, and time windowed routing problems. We dispatch thousands of drivers a day to carry millions of packages to our customers.

The last mile routing and planning team is looking for a technically strong, detail oriented Principal Product Manager-Technical with a strong track record of delivering transformational products who can own and deliver the next generation containerization and routing framework for Amazon Logistics.

The Role: You are results oriented and have thrived and succeeded in launching new transformational products under tight deadlines. In addition to product management and technical skills, the role requires a strong operational focus. You will need to constantly look for optimization areas, work with science and tech on implementing the roadmap, track progress and define how we scale; Ability to influence, analytical ability, strong tracking/monitoring capabilities, exceptional communication skills and leadership are essential to success in this role.

The pay-off is high ownership, an ability to deliver results, execute launches with high quality and raise the bar for how we expand our logistics programs. You will interact closely with the business team, the technology team, and the supply chain/operations team to identify/manage critical projects.

Key job responsibilities

  • Build a cohesive long-term product vision and both long-term and short-term product strategy/plan across a product or suite of products

  • Lead a high performing team of Senior and Principal PMTs to envision ideas to transform the space then execute against them

  • Build scalable mechanisms to ingrain product thinking into not only product folks but into the broader set of stakeholders across the organization

  • Define new products and drive alignment across multiple business and technical stakeholder teams

  • Scope large projects, manage project timelines, and communicate to senior leadership (VP+) on status, risks, and process/product changes

  • Create long-term product vision, influence partner teams towards that vision, and determine and build business metrics to help prioritize and drive execution towards the vision

  • Collect business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, write specifications, work with software teams to produce project schedules from design to release, and manage the production launch

  • Leads and coordinate design & implementation efforts between internal and external tech and business teams to develop optimal planning solutions

  • Work with multiple teams to build software that integrates multiple heterogeneous data sources into elegant software platforms to help us build efficient, flexible, and scalable solutions

  • Use this intelligence to expose trends and drive decisions for our stakeholders

  • Work with business owners to validate assumptions and ask questions to fill in knowledge gaps to ensure that the correct systems are built

  • Engage with all types of customers ranging from executives to developers

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience technical product management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
