A Senior Data Engineer is responsible for architecting, building, and scaling data systems to support business-critical data needs across the organization. This role will provide leadership in the development and optimization of complex data pipelines and infrastructure while ensuring the availability, security, and integrity of data. A Senior Data Engineer will work closely with analytics teams, data scientists, and business stakeholders to develop advanced data solutions and drive innovation in data practices across the company. This is a hybrid position required to be working in-office at least 3 days a week. Responsibilities: Architect and Optimize Data Solutions: Design and implement highly scalable and reliable data pipelines, focusing on performance optimization, fault-tolerance, and data quality. Lead Data Infrastructure Initiatives: Oversee the development, maintenance, and scaling of databases, data lakes, and data warehouses. Leverage cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud to enable scalable data storage and processing. Data Governance & Security: Lead efforts to establish and enforce data governance policies, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations such as CCPA, CPNI, and other relevant industry standards. Mentor and Guide Junior Engineers: Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to junior data engineers and other technical team members to enhance their skills and ensure high-quality deliverables. Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with data science, analytics, and business intelligence teams to understand data requirements and create solutions that meet their needs. Translate business objectives into data architecture and engineering strategies. Advanced Automation & Tooling: Automate and improve existing processes to streamline data operations, reduce manual work, and ensure consistent delivery of data insights. Documentation & Standards: Develop comprehensive documentation for complex systems, ensuring that all processes, designs, and standards are well-documented for both technical and non-technical audiences. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data architecture, or similar roles. Cloud Infrastructure: Expertise in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms and their associated data services (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, S3, Azure Data Lake). Certification is highly preferred. Advanced ETL/ELT Knowledge: Extensive experience with ETL/ELT frameworks such as Informatica, Talend, DBT, Apache Airflow, Matillion, etc. Programming: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and other programming languages for data engineering. Big Data Technologies: Strong experience with big data solutions like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka and optimizing data workflows. DevOps & CI/CD: Deep understanding of DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools to ensure efficient data delivery and infrastructure management. Data Modeling: Expertise in data modeling techniques for both relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases. Data Governance & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of privacy regulations such as CCPA, CPNI, and best practices for data security.
