Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Maintenance worker to perform a wide range of general housekeeping, and janitorial tasks needed by a school building. In this position, you will be responsible for a varity of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure facilities are both tidy and functional. The ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge. Must be a journeyman/completed an apprenticeship.
Responsibilities:
Open Building doors, deactivate alarm system, and inspect building for safety hazards Take immediate steps to correct.
Check condition or status of all building human comfort systems: heat, electricity, cooling, plumbing etc.
In winter, remove snow or ice from all entrances and adjacent walkways.
Do daily walk around spot check or areas serviced by the night or day custodian.
Bring to the attention of the Building Principal or Director of Building and Grounds any concerns.
Daily inspect all equipment and systems in building relating to the responsibilities to ensure that they are operational.
Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, etc.
Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed
Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
Maintain grounds, including garden and yard upkeep, trimming, edging, mowing lawn, collecting trash, etc.
Perform necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash removal, etc.
Complete regular maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs
Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems
Test the functionality of the facility’s safety systems
Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations and facility expansions
Report to facilities or maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
One (1) year of custodial experience preferred
Proven experience as a maintenance worker or similar position
Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems certification(s)
Successful completion of apprenticeship training and certification required
Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
