YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Manager Maintenance, are to:

  • Provide effective leadership including individual goal setting/performance reviews, training and coaching employees, ensuring appropriate staffing levels are met, effectively managing employee performance issues and corrective actions, recognizing and appreciating employee contributions, supporting workforce diversity, quality and safety, and all other activities/functions which support achievement of individual/department/business objectives;

  • Set a weekly operating schedule for the technical staff, assigning work by building and task;

  • Demonstrate strong interaction required with Scheduler / Planner group to ensure sufficient manpower available for tasks;

  • Ensure that Work Orders and tasks are distributed appropriately amongst the craft-specific technicians;

  • Set the expectations for an acceptable end product, and routinely assess results through direct field verification of technician tasks;

  • Lead and participate in trouble-shooting activities with technicians when necessary;

  • Set the standard for acceptable cGMP work practices;

  • Review all completed Work Orders for completion or AD-011 errors;

  • Instruct correction of errors amongst technicians;

  • Coach and train employees on their tasks and duties, focusing on 5S, Lean principles, SOP revisions, and a culture of continuous improvement;

  • Ensure that training curriculum is updated and training requirements are current;

  • Provide safety training regarding ergonomic issues, as well as on the job hazard analyses;

  • Investigate safety infractions or nearmisses;

  • Track time-sensitive employee hours in the time and attendance system;

  • Attend regular meetings with the API customer (TSO’s), updating them on routine issues;

  • Create Purchase Requisitions (PRs) within SAP for contracted services, and interact frequently with external service providers;

  • Communicate with a wide customer base, routinely assessing customer satisfaction (often TSO’s) through direct one-on-one interactions;

  • Track monthly Key Performance Indicators for the department;

  • Demonstrate working hours will closely mimic those employees that are being supervised;

  • Seek to continually challenge the status quo, allowing for process improvements in efficiencies, while striving for standard work optimization.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering and/or Certifications in a general craft (Mech, Elect, Instr, HVAC/Refrigeration) and established SME with at least six years of experience or Master of Science with at least two years of experience in managing a team of technically skilled employees in an Engineering discipline;

  • Have knowledge of analyzer and process technology as pertaining to process instrumentation;

  • Knowledge in instruments associated with measuring pressure, temperature, flow, conductivity, ultra-violet systems and TOC;

  • Experience in industrial plant power distribution systems is helpful – including motor control systems;

  • Proficient computer skills to include excel, word and PowerPoint, SAP experience helpful;

  • Strong planning and organizational skills;

  • Good oral and written communication skills;

  • Ability to support and prioritize many diverse activities simultaneously while meeting schedule commitments;

  • Be able to troubleshoot equipment failures immediately and communicate status to customers;

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide customer base and the ability to effectively communicate with and motivate a team of Bargaining Unit employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an aligned industry;

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and biotech production processes as well as good understanding of cGMP requirements, rules, and regulations;

  • Thorough understanding of current Collective Bargaining Units’ contract as it applies to daily activities;

  • Experience in a GMP / GLP environment.
