Description
The Amazon Robotics team is seeking broad, curious engineers to join our diverse team. In addition to holistically designing, building, and delivering end-to-end robotic systems, our team is responsible for the core infrastructure and tools that serve as the backbone of our robotic applications, enabling roboticists, machine learning scientists, and software engineers to collaborate and deploy systems in the field.
As an Amazon Robotics hardware engineer, you will design, build, and test innovative robotic systems and their components such as the end of arm tools. The ideal candidate has experience designing and analyzing mechanical systems, enjoys analytical problem solving, and possesses practical knowledge of manufacturing methods.
Key job responsibilities
Design first of a kind robotic grippers and mechanisms for manipulation in cluttered and constrained environments
Work with an interdisciplinary team to improve and maintain existing product designs including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
Work with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth production transition of design changes
Write requirements and functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
Exhibit role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis
Mentor colleagues
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment
Established background in Robotics or Mechatronic Systems with technology focus in Actuator and Sensor Evaluation
Experience related to systems architecture, design, and system integration of mechatronic devices.
SolidWorks or similar CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management
Familiar with using and the capabilities of rapid prototyping equipment (CNC, 3D printing, waterjet, laser cutter,…).
Built and deployed robots to production environments
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
Experience designing robotic hardware
Strong hands on experience with the ability to craft simple proof-of-concept models.
Thorough understanding and use of principles, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering
Proficiency with Agile Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO’s
Significant experience with the hardware product development process.
Demonstrated deep understanding of the business and end user needs quickly, and can proficiently translate those needs into suited technology solutions.
