Guthrie Referral Specialist - Orthopedics - Full Time in Binghamton, New York

Position Summary: Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely completion of referrals. Provides support to operational and billing departments regarding referral requirements and processes. Investigates proactively and retroactively scheduled appointments. Identifies incorrect and/or missing information and communicates with the responsible party. Education, License & Cert: Minimum of GED/High School diploma required; prefer Associates degree. Experience: Strong organizational skills and customer service skills are a must. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Prior insurance carrier terminology experience is helpful. Essential Functions: 1. Coordinate referral submission and retrieval via EPIC and other electronic systems as well as the internet. 2. Check scheduled appointments for required referral numbers and if missing, takes corrective action and notifies the appropriate person. 3. Provides training as assigned in all aspects of referral requirements and completion to appropriate new and existing employees. 4. Promptly reports payer system and or referral issues to lead and/or Supervisor. 5. Answers phone calls and correspondence proving requested information for appropriate follow up. 6. Demonstrates excellent customer service skill for both internal and external customers. 7. Maintains strict confidentiality related to patient health information in accordance with HIPAA compliance. Other Duties: 1. Assists with and completes projects and other duties as assigned.

Pay range for position is $16.00-22.37/hr.
