The Comfort Group Project Manager HVAC Mechanical in Birmingham, Alabama

The Comfort Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to work full time on location at a Birmingham, Alabama project. Candidates should have a background managing commercial mechanical projects up to $30 million in size and have a strong reputation for quality, reducing and controlling costs, and coaching others toward career success. The Project Manager leads and manages the project team, with the responsibility to run the project on a day-to-day basis.

Job Duties
  • Sets objectives and goals with specific measures

  • Effectively details plan to procure and coordinate materials, equipment, tradesmen, and subcontractors to maximize project profitability

  • Establish costs for labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors and other direct job costs

  • Proactively monitors costs and reacts to variations quickly. Monitors labor reporting system to effectively control productivity. Ensures financial success of project

  • Ensure timely billings

  • Recommend methods and or improvements based on project needs and resource capabilities.

  • Gather best pricing and on-time delivery of materials from vendors.

  • Ability to manage and approve schedule, billings, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and select and monitor subs.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or applicable field work experience in HVAC and Plumbing

  • Experience working for an HVAC or Plumbing Mechanical Contractors on large commercial projects up to $30 million

  • Knowledge of HVAC and Plumbing Systems

  • BIM experience is a plus

  • Effective organization, communication, multitasking and leadership skills

  • Ability to self-perform duties with little guidance

  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Effectively communicate with project superintendents, estimators, and operations managers.

  • Complete understanding of project contract requirements

  • Monitor productivity and provide solutions to the problems that arise

  • Prepare and maintain project schedules.

  • Monitor performance so the project is completed at or under budget and on schedule

  • Participate in project meetings

  • Ensure that no additional work is performed without proper authorization

  • Successful record of building and maintaining strong relations with GC’s, subcontractors, vendors and internal customers.
