Job Description
Summary:
Negotiate, purchase and monitor advertising space and airtime on behalf of clients. The objective is to reach the highest number of people in the target audience at the lowest possible costs for our clients while operating within company and industry standards of practice. Complete all market buys from beginning to end achieving the best outcomes for our clients, developing and maintaining professional relationships with media vendors, and providing our internal customers and service providers with what is needed on a timely basis. Provide guidance and coaching to less senior Buyers and Media Assistants.
Responsibilities:
Estimate, negotiate, and purchase all media including spot TV, radio, print, outdoor, and digital taking into consideration market conditions, historical pricing, and other such factors
Coordinate with Traffic to ensure that all confirmed buys are uploaded in a timely manner
Work through makegoods on timely basis
Adhere to posting and other such requirements according to department standards
Provide assistance to Media Billing Client Business Manager to reconcile invoice, solve missing invoice issues and similar tasks
Provide direction to Media Assistants and assist with their development toward the Junior Buyer position

Qualifications
Experience:
7+ years’ experience in a media buying role (for example, Media Assistant, Junior Buyer, Buyer) in a retail marketing firm; highly prefer experience in an agency that is audited for results.
Required Skills:
Experience evaluating and purchasing local broadcast schedules
Excellent negotiating skills and organization skills
Experience working with media buying and research software such as Nielsen, Scarborough, Prime Lingo, AdViews, SQAD, and SRDS
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to analyze, interpret and apply research data
Self-motivated and self-directed
Good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with vendors and teammates
