We are currently seeking an Operations Manager for our Birmingham Service Centre to spearhead efficiency, productivity, and operational excellence. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our engineering workshop and ensuring the highest standards in service, repair, and overhaul activities.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of our engineering workshop, with a primary focus on driving efficiency and operational excellence.

  • Establish and uphold rigorous quality control measures to maintain the highest standards in our service, repair, and overhaul processes.

  • Advocate for health, safety, and environmental initiatives, ensuring a secure and compliant working environment. Implement and monitor safety protocols.

  • Supervise and motivate the workshop team, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture. Manage recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, particularly focusing on implementing Lean methodologies.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Previous managerial experience, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing setting.

  • Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence.

  • Proven ability to lead individuals through transformative processes.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a commitment to high standards.

  • Commercial awareness, with the ability to distinguish between good and bad business practices.

  • Understanding of Profit and Loss (P&L) financials and budgetary management.

  • Adaptability to an ever-changing set of demands, as our industry operates without fixed parameters.

  • Ability to think creatively and adapt solutions to meet customer needs.

  • Capability to serve as a focal point for customer interactions, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
