Electronics Technician II - The Toro Company

The electrical technician (PSCE Power Systems Center of Excellence) in this role is responsible for building and validating prototype electrical systems for Toro’s battery-electric and hybrid-electric equipment. The technician would work directly with the Electrical, Mechanical, and Test Engineers in the Power Systems Center of Excellence, who are focused on delivering the next generation of electrified products at The Toro Company.

Work Location:

This opportunity is based out of Bloomington, MN international headquarters. Candidates should prepare for a 5-day on-site schedule.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Assembly and rework of PCBs (soldering, reflow, and inspection).

  • Build prototype harnesses and validate functionality in machines or stationary equipment.

  • Prototype Li-ion battery packs and conduct functional testing.

  • Coordinate test plan logistics with internal and external test facilities.

  • Assist design team with creating new design documentation and updates.

  • Manage Electronics lab and order parts.

  • Evaluate electronics using power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, CAN bus analysis tools.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a mechanical/electrical technician.

  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical degree or certifications, or a Bachelor's degree in a technical-related field (ex. Automotive, Manufacturing, Design, Agriculture.) preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication, teamwork, flexibility, motivation, dependability etc.

  • Willingness to learn to use new equipment, techniques, and software applications

  • Comfortable using basic hand and power tools

  • Familiarity with basic terminal crimping tools

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting capability

  • Must be able to work independently as a self-starter and in team environment supporting cross-functional staff members

  • Electrical harness design, component ordering, and harness construction experience preferred

  • PCB soldering and rework experience preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs for creating reports and basic data analysis

  • History of learning new PC applications required for specific equipment and tools

Other Job Dimensions:

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and to handle other computer components.
