ModMed (https://www.modmed.com/company/) is hiring a driven Senior MySQL DBA, DBRE to join our positive, passionate, and high-performing Cloud Engineering Team. This role is focused on ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability for our cloud-based database systems. Working closely with software engineers, you will design, implement, and maintain database solutions that meet our demanding requirements for uptime, efficiency, and automation. Additionally, you will drive initiatives to reduce toil, optimizing costs, and enhancing the overall reliability and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure. The Role:

• Champion SRE best practices to enhance the reliability, availability, and performance of database systems, setting the standard for operational excellence while collaborating with software architects and engineers.

• Support Modernizing Medicine’s ongoing development of our web and Ipad application with an emphasis on automation strategies to streamline database deployment, configuration, and management processes, driving efficiency, availability and scalability.

• Conduct thorough capacity planning and resource optimization efforts to maximize the cost-effectiveness of cloud resources and infrastructure.

• Establish robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response mechanisms to proactively identify and resolve database issues, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery.

• Facilitate post-incident reviews and root cause analyses to identify systemic issues and opportunities for improvement.

• Create comprehensive documentation of system designs, configurations, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration across teams.

• Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related products (MYSQL, Aurora, ElasticSearch, AWS-RDS, MongoDB, Redshift etc.).

• Provide support for a 24/7/365 production environment.

• Stay up to date with industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies in the database and data management space.

• Share knowledge and best practices with team members and other stakeholders.

Skills & Requirements:

• 6+ years of progressive MySQL administration experience

• Demonstrated experience and skills with DB Reliability Engineering, experience with SRE and or Cloud Ops preferred

• Expertise in SQL and proficiency with relational database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar, coupled with a deep understanding of cloud computing concepts.

• Proficient in database replication configurations, with experience implementing and managing high availability solutions to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

• Experience with AWS services and technologies, with the ability to effectively leverage AWS offerings to architect, implement, and optimize cloud-based solutions.

• Strong familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and proficiency with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).

• Demonstrated leadership experience, with a focus on driving strategic initiatives and fostering a culture of operational excellence.

• Extensive knowledge of SRE principles and a commitment to applying them to elevate system reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, preferred
